Easter Tale

Hello my Friend!

Hope you had a great E A S T E R holiday!  I have never seen so many people at church, oh my!  When we finally found a spot to park, there was a mass of good little church-goers waiting to get in.  It looked like an amusement park.  I was also secretly thankful that they had another mass at the same time -at the “Family Center”, in addition to the main church (sorry-no offense to all of you with kiddos).  The main mass we were at was pretty much adults and older kids.  It definitely made it easier to pay attention to the homily without screaming heads and kicking feet taking over (those kids gravitate towards me at church–every time).  The kiddies were stylin for Easter in their outfits though–the little girls in ca-ute dresses, pretty hair accessories and little boys in good duds and hats.

After church, it was on to the beach.  We decided to go to the Undertow–a great little place on St. Pete Beach (near the Don Cesar Hotel).  It wasn’t even super packed, so we were in luck.  80 degrees with slight cloud cover…perfect!!!

It always shocks me at how TALL palm trees can be…

IMG_3389

They have these awesome HUGE chairs inside and on the sand.  Totally Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

I chose a flowy, Spring-colored skirt.

IMG_3397

The best people watching place…

IMG_3394

CW and I had such a relaxing day.

photo

Um, I think my drink was a tad flowith over.

photo

Of course I was envisioning a pic by the water–so I brought some of the decorative eggs that I had at home, to try to make it happen (in between the beach-walking-people)…

IMG_3402

Those who passed by mentioned that “that is such a good idea”.  Why, thank you very much.

Spring is Here!  Happy Easter.

A Weekend with the P’s

My parents came down to visit a couple weeks ago.  It just so happened to be one of the coldest weekends we’d see in a long time.  How bout that?  Our plans to hang out at the pool were scratched.  The hostess in me found back-up activities.  It was the first day of the Strawberry Festival in Plant City.  I’d never been, so we headed there to check it out.  CW is not a huge fan of it haha (prob because he grew up in Tampa, but I love me a corn dog).  I think every single carnival ride and fried food concession stand in the entire state of Florida was there.  They get some pretty big names performing there every year…this year some of the concerts were Hunter Hayes, Blake Shelton, etc.

photo

My Dad and I.  Reminded us of the state fair.  I bet the teenagers are in heaven at night with all of the rides.

photo

Strawberries….surprisingly, fried food totally dominated the strawberries.

photo

Getting donuts and hot chocolate.

photo

and of course Strawberry Shortcake.  Delish.

photo

How cute are the P’s?

photo

On the way back to Tampa we just had to stop at the Hard Rock Casino.  I knew my Dad was going to LOVE it.

photo

He hit the slot machines, while my Mom and I hit the bar.  It’s a pretty cool hotel and casino.

photo

We hurried home and rushed out again to try to make it to the beach in time for sunset.  We were meeting my childhood friend, Tris, and her family there (we had just re-connected after losing touch in college.  How small is the world that they live in Clearwater).  CW and my favorite place on the beach to watch the sunset is the Sandpearl Resort.  It’s gorg.  Tris lives right near there, so it worked out perfect.

It was crazy windy out!  We all trekked up to the top of a dune for some photos.  My parents rock.

IMG_3227

Had to put the Hawkeye hat on…

IMG_3233

Still a pretty sky, even with the chilly weather.

IMG_3236

Chillin at the fire pit.

IMG_3242

Gotta love white sand beaches…

IMG_3245

We had the greatest night full of laughs and memories from when Tris and I were little.  It was a perfect night.  Of course we had to take them to Frenchy’s for their famous grouper sandwiches.

IMG_3247

I was excited to make a casserole for breakfast (casseroles are a lot of food for just two people usually).  I used tator tots instead of hash browns.  Added some ham, cheese, eggs, mmm…breakfast of champions.

photo

That day we were meeting my friend Rocio at Tampa Bay Downs.  CW and I love going there.  His grandfather was really big into horses, so it’s a tad nostalgic for him.

IMG_3249

Here they are…hoping to get lucky…

IMG_3261

I chose the horses who would win based on their “socks”.  The names were hysterical.  We were dying over my mom’s comments on “One Shady Woman” (use your imagination). We met a guy from the burbs of Chicago, who gave us all lessons on how to bet.  There’s a lot to know.  Win, Place, Show, Trifecta, it’s a whole new language.  This was going to come in very handy for my parents, since my brother and his family just moved right near Arlington Park in Chicago.  They’re going to be experts.

IMG_3260

There were eleven races, about half an hour apart (notice the socks)?

IMG_3259

Action shot…

IMG_3269

Um, hello…yes, of course we’ll have hotdogs and beer….

IMG_3256

Ro and I agreed we’re going to go more often.  You can sit inside and watch the other races going on across the country.  There’s a poker room, a grandstand area that’s shaded, picnic tables outside, benches and areas to stand right against the rails, a place to watch the “winners” and you can get a look at the horses before each race.

RSTrack

Check out my photo-taking skills!  You have to be quick.

IMG_3267

Everybody was a winner by the time the day was over.  Super fun.

IMG_3272

I made a big dinner and we decided it was a movie night.  We watched Life of Pi.  Dessert was an apple/oatmeal crock pot thing with ice cream.  Yep, I was a chef that weekend.

photo

Sunday meant church with the fam and then we met Jeff, Ellen and all of the kids for brunch.  Olivia went right to my mom.  So cute =)

photo

We get up to Chicago and Iowa a lot more than my parents get down here, so it was great to show them some of our favorite spots.

At least they didn’t go back with sunburns haha….

Merry Christmas My Friends!!

Hello my Friend!  That’s a wrap on Christmas 2012.  I’m tired just thinking about taking down and packing away all of the decorations.

December 24th is Wrigley’s birthday.  She turned EIGHT this year.  We got her the year after I moved here to Florida.  Crazy.  She’s the best pup–such a sweet soul.  I took her outside for a little photo shoot with her birthday hat on.

Img_2692

She will just lay there and pose like the best dog actors out there.

Img_2695

Give me a serious face…

Img_2700

A penny for your thoughts…

Img_2698

The night before we had headed over to J&E’s to exchange gifts with them and the kids.  We had such a fun night.  The girls and I did our new tradition of sidewalk subway art (like we did at Thanksgiving).

Emma hard at work…

Photo

We need to invest in some more chalk.  We’re out now.

Photo

CW was the DJ and we were all jamming.  Here’s Abby-his protege.

Photo

Olivia was a happy baby all night.  Clapping, dancing, playing….a little ball of energy.  A tad blurry, as I think this was in the middle of a dance move….

Photo

Of course Jeff and Tanner let off some fireworks.  Check out the gorgeous sky!

Photo

My brother and his fam drove to Iowa to spend the weekend with my parents, so I’ll show you some cute Brennan pics in a later post.  He was a huge fan of making cookies, or so it seemed =)  OH–if you’ve been following my saga of the missing package with ALL of their gifts…it showed up today….nine days later.  So now my mom has to ship all of the other gifts to my brother–but, I guess I should just be thankful it wasn’t stolen and did show up.  How random that they hadn’t been able to find any info. on it from the time it left Tampa..until it showed up at the post office yesterday afternoon..ON Christmas.  Weird.  I had to ship out some other things today–and used UPS fyi.

When we got home that night CW was licked to death by Wrigs and Gooser.  Every time he walks in the door he goes straight to this rug and they have a little love fest.  They missed us.  I love those furry faces.

Photo

We hung out at home Christmas Eve, which was really nice and relaxing, so we decided to go over to Clearwater Beach on Christmas day.  Why not–we live in Florida.  If I can’t have snow, I’ll take the sand.  We LOVE the Sandpearl Resort over there, so that was our destination.  First thing you saw in the lobby was this huge scene made out of SAND!!!  Come on–who can make all of that out of sand and how do they get it to stay so secure?  Look at that detail!

Img_2706

We lucked out with the best table at the outside restaurant.  Right in the corner with the best view.  Can’t beat that.

Photo

The bonfire was going strong and as the sun started to go down, it was the place to be (obviously not at THIS exact moment luckily–so I could get a good photo).

Photo

Merry Christmas to you!!!!

Img_2711

They were showing Christmas movies on a big, inflatable screen at the pool.  It was pretty funny to see people swimming watching Elf.

Img_2727

Here’s where our table was.  What a sunset!!!

Img_2715

A little red in the sky for the holidays….

Img_2721

Hoping your Christmas was full of love and laughter and wishing you a healthy New Year my friends.

Beach Day with B

Hello my Friend!

I was sad to miss my nephew Brennan’s FIRST bday party.  Boo =(  They celebrated on Easter since all the fam was going to be together.

B-Man and his eggs.  Adorbs.

Image_5

The K-Crew.  Wow-everything looks so green.

Image_6

Love seeing my parents so happy.

Image_8

Even though I wasn’t able to be there, it was perfect that Phil and his fam were heading down my way to Siesta Key (a few weeks ago).  I drove down for the day so I could get my B-Man fix (well, and hang with Phil and Sheryl too of course).  When I got there, they were chilling at the pool.  My flip flop was magical.

Yes-you can have it Brennan.  I have a million of them.

Image_11

Who’s so big??  Hey-your outfit is really cute.  Yours too.

Image_17

Hmmm, hello?  What’s next?  I’m bored with this call.

Image_16

I bought the B-Man a red Clifford the Dog stuffed animal. Yep, dude-it’s for you.  What big eyes you both have.

Image_18

 He loved.  Get that nose…
Image_19
My brother and I took off to the little downtown area for some drinks and to play catch up at SKOB.  He even shopped with me.  Yep, he knows me well.
Image_15

It was a super windy day, but we still decided to take a walk on the beach.  My bro was like a Hulk.  He lifted the stroller (with B-Man in it) right up and hauled it the entire way down to the water, like it was nothing.  Not easy to do in the sand.  Impressive.

Hey-Auntie Kays, I thought you lived in Florida?  Let’s go with the wind.  I’m getting sand in my eyes.

Image_14

We had the beach to ourselves.  Wheely-time.

Image_13

Are you laughing at the funny lady?

Image_12

Such a fun day watching B-Man start to walk.  We have a big family reunion in July, so only a couple months until some more family time.

I’m sure he’ll want to show off his new skills to me.  Can’t wait!
