Birds, Apps and a Sharpie

Hello my Friend!

Hey, Hey there.  Did I miss something?  Is it doomsday?  An apocalypse?  I woke up this morning to some insane, LOUD, crazy bird noises.  Living on a golf course I’ve become somewhat accustomed to the fact that we have gators, deer, jumping fish, turtles (do you remember the one who was at my front door a couple years ago?), lizards, scorpions, possums….and of course birds.  Today was different.  I looked out the window, grabbed my camera and headed out the patio door.

What in the holy h*ll was happening out there??????  Do you see all of those birds?

Ducks, birds, vultures, cranes…they were everywhere….all lined up along the entire perimeter of the lake!!

Img_2805

It was freaky!

Swimming around in slow motion, like little loch ness monsters….

I couldn’t help but just stare (and ask a couple of birds in close proximity what was going on).  I was fully prepared for them to attack me, like in one of the horror movies that I continue to watch at night.

Even the golf course “cart girl” stopped and stared.  The golfers….they just continued on like nothing out of the ordinary was happening around them.  Weird.

I wonder if they’re going to be back tomorrow morning….I hope not.  I’m a bit disturbed.

FYI-this is going to be a haphazard post of random thoughts, so moving on….

I was over at my friend Angela’s last weekend with the girls and we tried out some new apps.  Ellen had made this raspberry brie over the holidays.  I tried it out and it was super easy.  Just take one container of low fat crescent rolls, spread raspberry jam on it, place a round brie on top and pull up all of the sides of crescent dough to cover the brie round.  Pop it in the oven until it starts to bubble.  It was fantastic!

Let’s have a moment of silence for the fact that Ro actually tackled an app.  This is quite a feat for our cooking-challenged girl.  A+ on her first try of this 5-layer dip.

Angela’s chicken salad on cucumbers were the perfect light-bite to break things up.

Switching gears to fashion…I’m a tad obsessed right now with layering necklaces, especially my new fave beaded one from Twisted Silver and my acrylic, tortoise-colored “S”.

Oh-let me show you my new ski pants!  Ca-ute, huh?

Photo

Speaking of skiing, I’ve been enjoying the colder weather that’s been happening here in the FL the last few days.  I was going through the closet and came across these great black boots.  Since I’m really into gold (jewelry) right now, the silver metal on the boots was driving me a litle nuts.  I know….don’t ask.  I have issues.  What to do?

I grabbed this guy…

and started coloring in all of the metal….so far so good!

Loving them.  They’re like new boots.  I even wore them in the rain to see if the black would scuff off.  Not yet.  Guess I’ll just keep the sharpie in my purse for emergencies.  HA!

UPDATE: I woke up this morning (the day after the “coming of the birds” day) and nada…there was not one bird hanging out at or around the lake.  What the….

MM and L Love

Ok girls, this is for you!  Boys…just move on, you’ll be bored with this post.

Well, it’s no secret that I’m a reality junkie and I get a HUGE kick out of the Bachelor/Bachellorette franchise (new season starts January 7th.  Yay Sean)!  Yep, it creates many, many Facebook comments and conversations from here to the Midwest.  Love you girls!!

Anywho, Michelle Money has a You Tube channel with her bestie, Laura.  It’s called the MMandL show.  I stumbled on it via following her on Twitter (yes, yes, no judgement).  I’ve become slightly addicted to their videos and have since shared this ensuing madness with some of my friends.  The quick rundown: these two live in Salt Lake City, met through their exes and Michelle has a 7 year old daughter (I think she’s 7).  My friend Alyssa and I have discussed our need for starting OUR own You Tube channel…not sure what we’d talk about, but we’re brainstorming names haha….

Aren’t these two sooooo pretty???!!!  Gorg.

Grab a glass or two of wine, get your kids to bed and cozy up with your computer because if you like the things I do, you may be slightly obsessed with their channel also….I think you’re gonna thank me.  These girls might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I like em…a lot.  A little humor never hurt anyone and great friendships are amazing to see.  They do videos on fashion, brands they love, some Bachelor nation fun (yes, I really just used those words), but it’s mostly focused on hair, makeup tutorials and products.  Michelle is a hair stylist and Laura is an esthetician if you’re wondering.  I have tried numerous things that they’ve suggested, so I’m going to share some of my favs with you.  Ready?

I learned about this great, inexpensive Cabernet called Liberty School on their Wine and Cheese video.  It’s at the grocery store for about $13.  It always gets compliments when I’ve served it fyi.

I bought a shower cap from watching their Random Things Every Woman Should Own video.  Ah…life is a lot easier with a good ol $4 TJ Maxx shower cap that keeps my hair dry on the non-shampooing days.  Have I been living under a rock???

I now know that I’m not alone in my jewelry habit….verified by their Jewelry Organization Makeover video.  We actually like and have a lot of the same stuff.  I’ve had the silver and gold monogram necklaces for a couple years and they’re always wearing theirs.  I think they’d like me.  We should be friends.  Bubble necklaces, Stella & Dot, Twisted Silver, Forever 21, C Wonder (Tory Burch’s husband), Francesca’s, etc. Loooooove mixing it all up and layering.  It makes my heart happy.

I’m also a sucka for curling hair products.  This Tyche Reverse Rod Cone is amazing.  It works–Laura seems to have fine hair like me, so I can only attest to my hair (oh wait, Alyssa tried it out too and her hair is way thicker than mine…so there are 2 hair types I know that it works on).  Check it out on the Laura Curl video.

Super funny video on Drugstore Makeup that they filmed at Target.  I’m a big fan of the $3 Elf blush that they mentioned!

and nooooow, for the biggest find of all.  Drumroll please……Poo Pourri.  Yep, you heard that correctly.  I watched their Everybody Poops video, was very intrigued and a night that I had the girls over for a wine night, it was purchased.  I said that I would wait a few weeks for everyone to try it out before I’d give our reviews.  The reviews are in–it WORKS.  4 girls and a boy have been testers (they will remain nameless for confidentiality reasons).  I got the 4 pack on QVC for $25 and dispersed them accordingly.  Just watch the video and know that they weren’t kidding.  You’re welcome.

I think I need to start working highlighting (on the face, not hair) after their Do’s and Don’ts of Highlighting video.

There ya go!!  Hope you find out some new tips and tricks to help ya feel beeeeeea-u-tiful.  Pay it forward =)  Muah!!

Hello my Friend!

I am not a coffee drinker.  Actually I’ve never even had a sip–in my life.  I hate the smell.

Diet Coke is my drink of choice.

I only get hot tea (plain) or hot chocolate (no whipped cream) at Starbucks.

I only go to Starbucks when it’s cold outside (only a couple months of the year).

I met CW after his shift this morning.  It was 42 degrees.

I love hats.

I love vests.

I love half gloves.

He loves coffee.  No fancy pants coffee, just the straight-up plain, bold kind.

We were the only ones sitting outside.

We were imagining we were in the mountains.

Chillin on the patio with his pups.  Wrigs is not a morning person either….she looks so sleeeeeepy.

Hey girl….good morning sunshine!

Is Neon Natural?

Hello my Friend!

After my last post about old-school memories and trends–I realized that I’m in the 80s at the moment.  I can’t believe I’m saying this-but, I kinda like the neon trend.  GASP!

Especially the lime-green color.  It’s my fav.  This is pretty much what I’m in every night at home…some slouchy off-the-shoulder shirt or sweatshirt.  I mean, doesn’t everyone long for that moment when you walk in the door and can take off your bra (I’m a HUGE fan of Genie Bras for lounging around fyi) and then pull on the comfy clothes?

Image_3

I’ve even been sucked into a couple hot pink pieces.  Gasp again (well, one is the t-shirt I made into a scarf).  Oh-have you seen the new thing that’s hitting athletic wear and sweaters?  A little longer sleeves with a thumb hole!  So fab for the Fall.  This was me taking a pic in the Gap dressing room. No, I didn’t buy it (let’s be honest, I don’t need TOO many lime green/yellow shirts), but I was pleasantly surpised at that little detail.  I like.

Image

I’m guessing every girl has one of these in these contraptions in their bathroom….yeah, yeah, I’m a tad obsessed with my nails.  Hmmm…how long are you suppoed to keep polishes?  In reality, it’s because I have super weak, always short nails and if I don’t put polish on them, they’re gonzo and broken.  Love summer polish colors.

Image_1

This guy got my attention and I had to have him.  Hello “Coral Reef”.  I wish OPI Gel made this color.  I splurge on going to the nail salon for a Gel Manicure before we go on any trips, but other than that, I’m doing my own toesies and digits.  Has anyone tried the at-home gel treatments?  Ya gotta love a manicure that lasts over a week (even from the salon, my gel manicures only last about a week and a half, not the 3 they advertise).  I must be hard on em…still worth it though for a vaca.

Image_2

Another nod to my neon phase.  I’m estimating that neon won’t go very far into Fall.  I’ll enjoy it while I can and then I’ll be on to the next thing I’m sure.  In Florida, that means until November.  Rock on.
