Grab the Popcorn

Hello my Friend!

Holy smokes I have been to A LOT of movies lately (which means I’m also turning into a bag of popcorn).  Thought I’d give you my two cents on a few of them…

Les Mis.  LOVED it.  Now, I wouldn’t exactly call me a “musical junkie” per se (musical junkie-not music junkie, just to be clear), but I can appreciate a good one when I see it.  I thought they did an awesome job casting it, except maybe Russell Crowe.  Sorry, but not sorry Russell.

Zero Dark Thirty.  Did you watch that Dateline (or 20/20) special that aired awhile back–with the President and top leaders that were involved in this whole mission?  It pretty much followed all of them and the execution as it was happening, through real-time photos.  I really liked the movie.

Zero

Argo.  Well, since everyone can’t stop talking about Ben Affleck and about him getting snubbed at one of the awards shows, I jumped on board.  Really good.  The fashion–not so good haha!

Argo

The Impossible.  I remember seeing the promos for this movie back in the day, more importantly, the tsunami scene.  I’m so intrigued by the tsunami.  Side note:  CW and I were actually on a Caribbean cruise when it happened. We were in port on St. John’s island that day.  If you know me, yes, this is the trip that I tell you about–where I almost died.  Taken under by a rip current, contact lost, suit around my ankles.  Super scary.  When we got back on board we found out what had happened and that all of the excursions had been cancelled (would have been nice to know that little tidbit a tad earlier).  I remember watching the coverage on a TV in a lounge, trying to keep my footing, as the ship was swaying.

Anyways, such a tear-jerking (is that a word?), heart-warming movie.  Definitely recommend it!

Impossible

Now, this isn’t in the theaters, but I just watched Taken 2 On Demand.  Ugh.  Way too many extended fight scenes and car chases.  Give it a rest, we get the point.  I really liked the first Taken movie, but thumbs down on this one.  That would be a big, fat “boo”.

Taken

Moving on to TV.  I am wondering and become agitated at why the DVR can only record 2 shows at a time, scratch that–if you’re actually wanting to watch TV, then it can only record 1.  I’m totally into the new shows Deception and The Following.  Excited for those.

This season of Revenge, Scandal, Nashville, Chicago Fire, American Horror Story do not disappoint.  What’s with all the great shows lately??!!

Alright, yes, of course I’m still watching all of my reality shows.  That’s pretty much a given, so just assume that I’m watching and know all of the deets about them.

Oh,what the hey, no judging…

Shahs of Sunset (wowza, they are nutso), Housewives (all of them, duh), The Bachelor (double duh), Plastic Wives (oh my!), Mob Wives (bad a**es), Vanderpump Rules (new fave guilty pleasure).  Carry on…

Back to Now

Hello my Friend!

I saw this going around Facebook today and had to laugh out loud.

Back

Today is the day Marty McFly traveled to in the future…

Hmmm…no flying cars for us.

Remember thinking that 2012 would be so futuristic?

The 80′s really did have the best movies.  Sixteen Candles, St. Elmo’s Fire, Breakfast Club, Stand By Me, Ferris Bueller, the list is so long.  Now we have dumb Harry Potter and Twilight everything…well, at least this is coming out tomorrow….

Mike

Thor-Hear me Roar!

Hello My Friend!

CW and I went to the movies yesterday.
The choice was between Soul Surfer
(ya know, the girl who’s arm was bitten off by the shark)
and Thor.
I didn’t really know much about Thor,
except the main guy is an Austrailian hottie pants.
I left it up to CW and Thor it was (yay).
He was happy as Natalie Portman showed up in the first scene.
Good for me, good for him.

I LOVED him/it!!!

Thumbs up.
I’m not quite sure,
but I’m guessing back in the day
I really liked Theology or something
(I kept saying Theology, when in acutality,
it’s Mythology, ok, I really like Mythology I guess).
Oh my gosh–did I really learn something in college?
Sweet.
Well, gotta thank Google also-
for always being there to confirm or deny my thoughts.
FYI-Theology is based on religion
(maybe my 12 years of Catholic schools
ingrained Theology, Theology, Theology in my brain).
I do know that I hated Philosophy in college.
That I remember.

I thought it was a great story,
good visual effects,
a little over the top at times
(I was reminded by CW),
good cast, so, yeah…
 I liked.

I got so excited when we
passed by the hammer on the way out,
that I had to get a pic
(as the 14 year old-ish popcorn guy laughed at me).

The entire car ride home I kept saying,
“Thor-the God of Thunder”…in my best
“God/Price Is Right come on doooooowwn” voice.

CW was looking at me like I was a nutball,
probably wondering how he had never known
that I was a fan of these Gods.

Whatever.
Thorrrrr—the God of Thunder………….
