Turkey Day

Hello my Friend!

Did you have a good Turkey Day?  Hope so!  We had gorgeous weather here in the FL.  So, I put up another wreath.  I’ve never seen one like this, have you?  Now–there was NO way I was going to try making this one…

Photo

It’s all sparkly and has little mirrors all over it….cool.

I started making a few little decorations on Wednesday (better later than never).  I know, I have problems, I just can’t stop.

Photo

I created the triangle shape and banner letters in Word (super simple).  Cut them out and taped on scrapbook paper.  Strung with jute and wa-lah, the annual Thanksgiving day banner was made.

I found some free printables on Pinterest.  This was was from Betty Crocker Wannabe.

and coasters from Claire Bella

Again, I just backed them with some fun scrapbook papers…

We started our Thanksgiving day at Starbucks (gimme those ads).

then headed over to Jeff and Ellen’s.  I brought a couple of appetizers (I am the App queen).  The staple Pigs in a Blanket and a new Spinach and Artichoke recipe.  Hmmm…guess I didn’t take a pic of it (shocker), but it was pretty easy and a HUGE hit.  Def making it again.  I baked it at home, then transfered it into my crock pot so we could just plug it in and keep it warm.  I am a genius.  It stayed creamy and cheesy the whole time.

I used a recipe from Food.com found HERE.  After reading the reviews I did change up a couple of things.  I added another can of artichokes and after draining that and the spinach, I chopped them up really good.  Instead of 2 cups of parmesan cheese, I did 1 cup parm, 1 cup italian cheese mixture (just the Kraft bagged kind).  I also added another tsp. of garlic and used fat free/low fat cream cheese, sour cream and mayo.  Of course I couldn’t resist adding some extra cheese to the top.  It looked just like this.

Spinach

After apps and while waiting for the main din-din, the girls and I headed outside to do something…we decided on making some Thanksgiving chalk subway art.  That printable was our inspiration.  It turned out soooo cute!  We had fun deciding what style of writing, which colors and where the words were going to go.  Love those girls and that they appreciate the things I do.

This was one of last year’s photos….

I was not succeeding in getting a good jumping one this year HA!  My fault-not theirs.  I’m sure Jeff got some good ones as we were snapping away at the same time and his camera is mack daddy.

CW even humored me =)  PSA: I am thankful for CW playing along with my crazy picture taking and the antics that surround it.

Thx

Then the fireworks started.  Oh boy, you brothers are crazy!!

We spent our day with family, friends, crafts, food and fireworks.

A pretty perfect day.  Now the Christmas madness begins…

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Hello my Friend!

I am thankful.  I am grateful.  I am blessed.

Photo

Feeling lucky for the family I was blessed with,

the friends I couldn’t live without,

the travel and adventures I’m so grateful to experience

and the health to appreciate it all.

Happy Thanksgiving my friends!

White is the New Orange

Hello my Friend!

So…since I’m done re-decorating the house top to bottom, I’ve turned to Pinterest once again for some holiday inspiration…and crafting projects.

I got some popcorn and beans to finish my “wheat” vase…..

Photo

CW and I LOVE, love Halloween.  We probably have 6 large bins full of spooky goodness.  I always get depressed when I have to take down the Halloween decor, because the Thanksgiving-type stuff that’s left is a tad boring.  Usually I’m wishing that I could just put out the Christmas decorations right away.

Well, this year I’m going to makeover my “harvest” decor.  Since the house is now in grays, blacks and whites, I’m going to re-invent some of the orange.

I already had some good ol white duct tape.  I’m sure I could use paint too, but this is less work and immediate satisfaction.

Photo

We have quite a few of these foam pumpkins in different sizes…

Photo

I started wrapping…top of one side and down and up the other side…

Photo

Wa-lah!!  It looks just like the paper mache looking ones at the stores right now!!!

Photo

After I do a few of them, the goal is to “sharpie” letters on them….like B-O-O and gather them together….

Photo

Oh Pinterest, what have I done without you???

Remember the Turkey

Hello my Friend!  Well, since I’m ready to be blogging all things Christmas, I realized that I may need to actually post my blog about Thanksgiving first.  How rude!!  You know the drill…a bazillion photos taken = give me awhile to blog it.

So, mind warp back a few weeks…we headed over to Jeff & Ellen’s for the day (Olivia was about a week and a half old).  Of course I started making little pine cone decorations around midnight…yes, I have issues.

Bunch_thx_kays

and a banner (that also served a special purpose later in the day)…

I was super impressed with the girl’s awesome art display welcoming Olivia.  Emma accommodated my outrage and added a little “Iowa Hawkeye” action.  Gracias!

Doesn’t everyone dream of their kids getting along this well? Good little Wilsons…

Ellen’s mom and stepdad were in town for the baby, so their household was covering the turkey, main dishes and pumpkin pie.  I whipped up mac and cheese, an apple/caramel cake and of course the self-proclaimed appetizer queen that I am, decided to go overboard. Gotta love Pinterest, so many ideas…I made little pizza rolls…

Pizza

The addicting corn/bean dip salsa that is a staple at all events now…

and pigs-in-a-blanket.  We were definitely not going to go hungry that day.  No sir.

Dogs

So, we watched football, lounged around…

Us_couch2

became randomly fascinated by Tanner’s big feet.  I probably took about 10 photos of them in different positions.  At one point, Jeff had his finger in between Tanner’s toes (to reference the fact that he has alarmingly long ones).  See my note?  13 years old and a size 13.5.  Wowza.

Foot

We continued to munch…

Apps

Pulled out the swirly straws…

Drinks

plopped Ms. O in CW’s lap for a little bit…

Cw

and admired her first holiday outfit.

Gobble

This pic makes me laugh.  I’m sure all households have that moment when you look around and realize that everyone is on their phones…

Phones

Then it was turkey time.  Check out these boys.

Eat

Don’t ya just love Thanksgiving food?  We usually grill out steaks for Christmas (that’s Florida for ya–being able to grill all year round), so this is the day for the traditiional turkey, potatoes, stuffing, etc.

Table

My pinecones were the placecards…Gobble, Gobble was the theme.  Duh.

Yellow_thx_kays

Orange_thanks_kays

After dinner, I was dying to use my banner as a photo prop.  This is now going to be our new traidition.  You better believe that Christmas will have a Ho, Ho, Ho one for sure.

We started out pretty normal…

Kids

Ok, now be “fun”, do some “poses”…

Up

This is my favorite of the day.  Such good sports to not complain about the continuous pics we were snapping!!!

Jump

Jeff in on the action…

Fun

Let me in…

All_sign2

Hmmm…what should we do babe?

Us3

Of course…

Us_sign

Ok, fine, no more banner pics…

Fam

Look at that little yawn….

Yawn

Cute bum.

Little does Ms. O know she will be required to participate in all future photo-shoot stunts.

Face

Fast forward to present day and Olivia is now over 3.5 weeks old!!! Can’t wait to see her tomorrow, I’ve been so crazy busy, it’s time to get my fix!!
